2013 SYV Festival

The Garagiste Festival: Southern Exposure is an event dedicated to showcasing the wines of 30 high-quality, limited-production, commercial winemakers who are making under 1200 cases per year from the Santa Ynez Valley.
Our mission is to support the small guys and girls who don’t have big marketing budgets or the time to get out there and sell their wine. These wines can be very hard to find – many of these winemakers don’t even have tasting rooms. Find the next great winemakers early and impress your friends!
Have questions? We’ll answer them. Just contact us at info@garagistefestival.com.
There is a fair amount of parking at the venue, however, if you are only coming to the Grand Tasting, the spaces will most likely already be full. We suggest parking in one of the many free lots around Solvang and walking to the venue, which are at most a mile away. The Memorial Hall is across the street from the Mission on the east end of Solvang.

SEMINAR – 11:ooam-Noon
“The Ultimate Barrel Tasting – Oak Flavors Tasted and Explained”
Winemaker and vineyard owner Michael Larner and winemaker Ryan Render – a 2-time Garagiste Festival participant who also works at the Tonnellerie Saint Martin cooperage – bring their knowledge of viticulture and winemaking to the table in this special comparison barrel tasting of wines made by McPrice Myers from the renowned Larner Vineyard. The tasting is an extremely rare opportunity to learn the subtleties and nuances of the winemakers ‘spice rack’, as attendees get to really taste how different oak treatments – from type to toast – can affect the finished product and change the profile of a single wine. [Lunch will be served, following the seminar.]

GRAND TASTING
2:00-5:00pm
Find your favorites amongst our lineup of 32 winemakers who will be pouring over 100 different wines. There’s more to the Santa Ynez Valley than Pinot Noir and Chardonnay (though we certainly love those too). These wines prove how diverse this wine community truly is.
There will be light nibbles provided including: cheese, fresh bread (provided by Well Bread in LA), olive oils (provided by Rancho Olivos), and cheese & charcuterie (provided by Cecco Ristorante). Please click here, to find lunch/dinner options in the area.
The Garagiste Festival is a non-profit organization. We are proud to support the young winemakers at the Wine and Viticulture Program at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. NO ONE – including your cute baby – under the age of 21 will be admitted to the Festival. No animals allowed except for service dogs. You must present your ticket and a photo ID to gain admittance. If tix purchased by check, your name will be at Check-In.
