Are You A Garagiste? Reveals the Top 10 Reasons Most Wineries Are Probably Not…

Paso Robles, Ca – Are you a ‘garagiste?’ The garagiste trend moves closer every day to being a full-fledged movement, with small lot, high quality wines gaining traction among savvy wine consumers – and over 45 of these artisan ‘garagiste’ winemakers set to pour at November’s Paso Garagiste Festival:Celebrating the Artisan Winemaker. In order to clear up any misunderstanding about what or who is and is not a ‘garagiste”, the first and only website dedicated to artisan winemakers, has released a Top Ten list of reasons why a winery may or may not qualify to be labeled a garagiste.

‘Garagistes’ (gar-uh-zhe-stuh) is a term originally used in France to denigrate renegade small-lot wine makers, sometimes working in their “garages,” who refused to follow the “rules,” and who are now responsible for making some of the best wine in the world.

Is your winery one? Probably not….and here is why:

Paso Garagiste’s Top 10 Reasons Why You Are Probably Not a Garagiste

Reason # 10: You make your wine in 5,000-gallon stainless tanks
Reason #19: Your winery runs full-page ads in glossy food magazines
Reason #8: You pour your wines at every wine festival from Boston to Boise,
Reason #7: You are shipping containers of wine to China
Reason #6: Your wines can be found in supermarkets or at Costco
Reason #5: You think a “shiner*” is a black eye
Reason #4: You desperately need 90+ point scores to drive your wine sales
Reason #3: You’ve never had purple hands or fingernails
Reason #2: Your oak comes in a bag

And the Number One Reason you are probably not a garagiste?

Reason #1: You plan to make your fortune from making wine!
